When it comes to romantic relationships, there is always going to be some pros and cons along the way. If a relationship cannot withstand these cons, both individuals might decide to break up. However, one person might want the relationship to begin again after taking some time to think things over and this seems to be the case for the main couple in Makeup and Breakup the Series. Directed & written by Eric J. Dickens, Makeup and Breakup the Series is a web series about Brooke(Nicolette Ellis) & Blake(Omar Salmon). When Brooke blindsides Blake and ends their two year relationship, Blake doesn’t hesitate before jumping back into the New York dating scene. Instantly he finds a new love interest and regains his confidence. Once things begin to get serious, Brooke resurfaces and wants to claim what was once hers. Confused, Blake finds himself caught in the middle. When the dust settles, who will win him over in the end? Besides Nicolette Ellis & Omar Salmon, Makeup and Breakup the Series stars Sean Dominic, Emilio Evans, Kamel Goffin, Karmia Berry, and Olivia Gray.
After watching the first episode, I truly believe Makeup and Breakup the Series is a fantastic web series and Dickens has created a masterpiece. His writing is great as this is web series is an unconventional New York love story gone bad with a chance of a happy ending…or not? On another note, the two lead actors did a marvelous job. Salmon portrayed Blake as someone who truly cared for Brooke and his reaction to being suddenly dumped seemed VERY genuine. However, Salmon gave Blake that confidence to move on and start dating again. Despite seeing Ellis in projects like Situationships & Disillusion, she continues to prove that she’s a phenomenal actress by playing Brooke. Ellis made Brooke seem relatable as an individual who wants to end a relationship but has a hard time actually doing the deed…at first.
Besides two amazing lead actors, I enjoyed Makeup and Breakup the Series because I’ve been in Blake’s position after a relationship ended out of nowhere and I was left in a state of shock. Like Blake, I couldn’t believe my relationship was suddenly ending and I didn’t see any signs of it ending. I tried to remember any moment that could’ve influenced my relationship ending and I couldn’t come up with anything. I felt helpless in the ending of my relationship. However, I wish I had Blake’s confidence to move on as quickly as he does.
