BLACK LOVE EXISTS?

A myth. A stereotype. Black love = the impossible.

R.O.O.T explores the rawness and sensuality of black love through an unspoken narrative, backed by the dulcet tones of Cynthia Erivo’s Signal – the track alone enrapturing the senses.
This piece was influenced by the lack of images pertaining to the black man and woman in the British gaze. Its purpose simply to inspire more images of positive relations between a black man and a black woman.
The short-film piece is by and stars multidisciplinary artist Damilola ‘DK’ Fashola. With the body art and fashion designs by Linek OVIE. The piece is one of the five BERRS conceptual exhibition pieces by the pair which debuted at the sold out Mr Eazi Culture Festival at the renowned Roundhouse, London. ROOT is Produced by Initiative.dkf, and also stars Luke Wilson (Ghost Tour, Scottsboro Boys)
