While Saturday, July 13th, seemed like a whirlwind of a day with a blackout in parts of Manhattan, it was also a night of celebration for the ladies of Series-ly Podcast. At the Slope Lounge and Restaurant in Brooklyn, NY, I represented Black Talent TV alongside other actors, actresses, filmmakers, artists, and media outlets, as well as family and friends, to celebrate the three year anniversary of Series-ly Podcast. There was nothing but positivity, excitement, and support for Series-ly Podcast hosts Brittany & Mary.
For those who aren’t familiar, Series-ly Podcast provides weekly recaps on all of the drama, love, scandal, friendships, and all around mess in regards to their favorite web series. In addition to Brittany & Mary’s hilarious commentary, special guests drop by to help recap the episodes as well. The special guests range from creators and actors/actresses to bloggers and other web series lovers. Some of the web series that Series-ly Podcast has covered are Makeup and Breakup, Chef Julian, and recently Pillow Talk.
As soon as guests entered the venue, they were greeted with the infectious sounds of music, both current & classic, per DJ PHD. Past the step & repeat, there was a photo booth where guests can take pictures in front of the Series-ly Podcast logo and even put on different props & accessories. The Series-ly Podcast third anniversary party also included cupcakes with the girls’ logo on it, as well as a raffle with prizes that included a six month subscription to Black & Sexy TV & T-shirt, a one hour podcast session at Indie Creative Network, and an exclusive Series-ly Podcast mug. The event was sponsored by Black & Sexy TV, as well as Indie Creative Network, Clrd Media, and Honey B. Media Group. Guests also left the event with a Swag Bag that included various products from Lip Bar, Black Radiance, Coola, Naturally G4U, Miss Spa, Shop Coveted Style, Young Professional Staffing Solutions, and A Peace of Me Skincare. The fantastic cupcakes were made by K’s Cakes n Thangs.
Attendees for the Series-Ly Podcast 3rd Podiversary Party included Black & Sexy TV founder Dennis Dortch, actress Nicolette Ellis(Mistake, Makeup and Breakup), filmmaker Bobby Ashley(The Ave, Single Man Problems), actress/producer/creator Yha Mourhia Wright(#LoveMyRoomie, Pillow Talk), actor/filmmaker Steven St. Pierre(Corey), actor & rapper Malik Rashad(Tough Love, Pillow Talk), actress/singer/filmmaker Tamala Baldwin(Bubbly Brown Sugar), filmmaker & The Urban Web Summit founder Dallas Alexis(Hotline), actress Shaniqua West(Single Man Problems), Clrd Media & Black Web Fest found Victoria Coker, musician & actor Sky James, and many more!
As many know, Black Talent TV spotlights numerous web series & short films and have been in contact with many filmmakers, actors, and actresses, as well as meeting some. At the event, it was great to finally meet some actors & creators I’ve adored for so long, such as actress Claudia Nell McCoy and filmmaker Benny Flames. Claudia stars in the phenomenal web series Timeless Guilt, which is written & directed by Benny.
If you were NOT at the Series-ly Podcast 3rd year podiversary event this year, you should definitely try to make it next year! With how amazing this year’s event was, I can only imagine how wonderful year four is going to be for the Series-ly Podcast ladies.
