At the start of 2016, a new U.K. comedy short film premiered and is quickly making an impact in London! Written, directed, and produced by Krystine Atti, The Tinder Problem centers on Tobi who, after being convinced by his friend Luke, goes on five dates via online dating. Throughout the five dates, he quickly realizes that you should never judge a book by its cover! The Tinder Problem stars Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Tobi Bamtefa, and Atti herself.
After watching The Tinder Problem, I truly understand why the project is doing well in London—because it’s hilarious! While Smith-Bynoe and Bamtefa were fantastic as Tobi & Luke, Atti was phenomenal as six characters! Yes—Krystine Atti portrayed six different characters! Are there any academy awards for a comedy short film to provide these three talented actors?!
While I have not personally used Tinder, I know of a couple friends who have and one, in particular, was sort of forced just like Tobi. She ended things with her boyfriend months before her sister decided to sign her up and told her there was already a date lined up with a “cute dentist.” My friend was extremely excited and while the actual date started off good, it quickly went sour when she found out the “cute dentist” was actually just a receptionist at the office where his father is the actual dentist. Fortunately, my friend was willing to overlook this little white lie…until her date asked if she wanted to come back to his place, which was in the basement of his parents’ house, for a “nightcap.” #DateGoneWrong
